This small manual will show you how to add a google map to your blog post. It’s easy!First of all, log in to the blog administration. When viewing your blog, to go Options, there you find the menu WP-Google-Maps. In this menu you can set in your API. It’s a code you get from google easily for free, just click on the “Get your API Key” link in the options menu and add it to the box there. Now you can start adding your maps:

Visit Options -> WP-Google-Maps

When you have entered a valid API key, you can search your favourite city inside the map on the right.

After searching a city, the longitude and latitude variables will be updated automatically on the left. Under the map you see the code your post, starting with
[wp-google-maps lat=...

This code will sometimes not be updated automatically, so best is to click “Update options” and go back again, then it should work. Otherwise copy the link and change the lat=, lon= and zoom variables manually.

If you have copied the link into your post, the map should be visible on your blog.

Congratulations! You added a google map to your blog It your search for Paris, it should look like this:

If you have any questions about this, don’t hesitate to ask :) Hugs, Platschi

I just installed the Akismet plugin because my inbox was getting slammed with somewhere around 10 emails per day asking me to approve comments. All of them were spam, of course. Akismet as been extremely useful on my own blog. In fact, not a single comment or trackback spam has made it through, so I expect it to perform well.

Now I’m looking into various “location” plugins that would allow you to include a map or something showing where you’re blogging from. Reply with any suggestions or requests for other plugins!
