Antigua, Guatemala
Where to start. Maybe with the here and now. I m sitting here in Antigua, tired, spazy, hungry, lost in thoughts. This city is artificial, unreal just everything but Guatemala. I ve just got here yesterday from Honduras so I actually don t know what Guatemala is like but I know that this town is not Guatemala. Yesterday night we celebrated with some Couchsurfers the birthday of Alex a travel & study mate from Germany.
True there have been Guatemaltecos but 85 % gringos. Even the Guatemaltecos who have been there I would estimate belong to the upper 10 % of the population of Guatemala.
I feel like I vegot to move out here asap. I ve got still stuff to do (Matriculation in University, Credit Card issues, etc) but if this is done I m out of here searching the real Guatemala.
But what happened before? True I didn t told you so far. I entered Nicaragua on the 08 of January. Went almost straight to Leon where I met Alex and Ole. We hung out there for a little while. Juggling with the street kids and playing pool in the Lazybones.
There we met a German girl who told us about the Corn Islands. We were pretty impressed by here description so we went overnight by bus and boat to Bluefields where we waited for the ferry to Big Corn Island. There we did nothing despite wandering around on the island, snorkeling, eating lobster and drinking Flor de Cana. After that we flew back to Managua and tried to hitchhike to Ocotal where we stayed with Flor and her family. From there we went to Copan and from there directly here to Antigua.
Thats so far from here… pictures come later…

By the way the name of the town is LA ANTIGUA GUATEMALA, not antigua.
