Past and present

Thursday, August 21, 2008

Thought you all should know, I never post right after traveling. Some of the post here are (and will be) fresh out of my memory, or even a year or two old. It all depends on how I’m feeling. And they are all written in present tense because I prefer the stream of consciousness technique. Nonetheless, everything here is and will be as it happened.

Best of luck.

The house of Dracula and the house of couchsurfers

Friday. Noon. Just got out from work. Huge backpack. Check. Pretty colored sign saying Sighisoara. Check. Lots of people hitching South. Half going to the rock festival at Sibiu, half to the medieval festival at Sighisoara. I find a cozy spot uphill from everyone, and after a lousy 3 minutes, a medium size truck stops.

Trip turns out to be event-less, except for me trying to figure out if it’s gonna rain or not in Sighisoara, by the direction of movement and the motion of the clouds.

A couple of hours pass, thankfully, quite quick, the driver being a nice folk and good conversation. And so I arrive at Sighisoara, at the bottom of the citadel, near a set of endless stairs that lead to it.

40° of dead poets

Sunday morning, heat and dust. Seems like it’s a general impression in my city. But it’s far worse. Bus, then thumbing. Next to me, a sexy blonde, in her 20s. Sunday morning, 10 o’clock, city heat and honking cars. Need to get away. Bus, then thumb, then the first ride. Nice driver, rusty car. 30 kms pass like nothing, and then there’s dust.

Excuse me, madam, would you be so kind as to allow me to BLOG MY HITCH, (b*tch).

Wednesday, July 2, 2008

Welcome to “Blog my hitch”.

I’ll be your host for the evening (and forever). My name is Vlad, and I travel a lot. For information from before I started this blog, please go to my HitchWiki page .

I just started blogging my travels (not only hitchhiking). Nothing to write yet. Still waiting for some free time, so I could go somewhere, doesn’t matter where. It’s been a good couple of months since I left the city, and it’s really starting to get boring.

So, I’ll see you soon.

May the Hitchhiking God be with you, and may all the cars and trucks stop for you.

Vlad.
